A Tent for 500 People
If you need a tent for 500 people, the 60×100 is the size to look at. At 10 sq ft per seated guest, it holds 600 at tables alone. With a dance floor, a bar and a buffet inside, about 480 to 500 is a comfortable plan. For a standing reception, it holds about 1,200.
| Event style | Guests |

| Wedding with dance floor, bar and buffet | About 480 to 500 |
| Standing reception | About 1,200 |
What Wedding Tent Size Do You Need?
The right wedding tent size depends on your guest count and what goes inside. Here’s a quick guide using our century tents:
| Guests | Century tent size | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 240 | 40×60 or 30×75 | $2,400 or $2,095 |
| Up to 360 | 60×60 | $4,500 |
| Up to 400 | 40×100 | $4,000 |
| Up to 600 | 60×100 | $7,500 |
| Up to 800 | 80×100 | $16,500 |
Planning a wedding for around 240 guests? A 60×100 is more than you need. For that size, the 40×60 or 30×75 century tent fits better. For a wedding tent rental closer to 500 guests, the 60×100 gives every guest room plus space for a dance floor.
Why a Double Peak Century Tent
The 60×100 has two center peaks instead of one, so the roof sweeps up at two points along the length of the tent. At 25 ft, the peaks are more than three times as tall as the sides. That height keeps a big crowd from feeling crowded and gives room overhead for string lights. The top is tensioned between the poles and stakes, which creates the curved lines century tents are known for.
For more on how century pole tents work and every size we carry, see our century pole tent guide on the 80×100 page.
Laying Out a 60×100 Pole Tent
- Dance floor under the peaks: the two highest points of the roof sit over the middle of the floor.
- Bars around the poles: a bar or food station built around a center pole uses space that would otherwise sit empty.
- Ceremony at one end: rows of chairs facing the far end, then dinner tables after the vows.
- Lounge areas: soft seating along the sides for guests who want a break from the dance floor.
Among wedding tent rentals for large guest lists, the long 100 ft shape makes it easy to give each part of the day its own zone.
Grass Only: 70 x 110 Feet
All pole tents must be installed on grass only, with an additional 5 feet of grass on each of the four sides. For a 60×100 tent, that’s a clear grass area of at least 70 by 110 feet, free of trees, structures and garden beds. If you can’t meet that, choose a frame tent instead.
Call 811 before setup so underground lines can be marked, and check with your town about a tent permit. For a tent this size, a site visit ($250, credited when you book) is the best way to confirm the space.
