Why Choose a Century Pole Tent
A century pole tent is a tension tent. The top is stretched between the center poles and the stakes around the edge, and that tension shapes the peaks you see from outside. The result is a soft, curved roof line that looks different from the straight lines of a frame tent.
Height is the other reason. With a 17 ft center, there’s room overhead for crisscross string lights and the space feels open even when it’s full. The poles and stakes come with the rental, so there’s nothing extra to add for support.
30×60 Pole Tent or 30×60 Frame Tent?
We rent 30 x 60 tents in both styles. Same floor size, different build:
| Compare | 30×60 pole tent | 30×60 frame tent |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price | $1,695 | $1,800 |
| Side / center height | 7 ft / 17 ft | 8 ft / 14.5 ft |
| Inside poles | Yes, center poles | None |
| Surface | Grass only | Grass or pavement |
| Seated guests | 144 to 180 | 144 to 180 |
Pick the pole tent for a lawn, a lower price and a taller peak. If you’re on pavement or want no poles in the floor, see the 30×60 frame tent.
Grass Requirements
All pole tents must be installed on grass only. You’ll also need 5 extra feet of grass on each of the four sides, so a 30 by 60 pole tent needs a clear grass area of at least 40 by 70 feet. Keep that area free of trees, structures and garden beds.
Call 811 before setup so underground lines can be marked, and check with Wall Township or your town about a tent permit. If you’re not sure your yard has the room, a site visit ($250, credited when you book) can confirm it.

Laying Out a 30 x 60 Pole Tent
The center poles run down the middle of the tent, so plan the layout around them:
- Long tables: run them on both sides of the poles for a family-style dinner.
- Round tables: about 18 to 22 rounds of eight fit with a dance floor left out.
- Dance floor: place it between two poles, under the highest part of the roof.
- Pole skirts: wrap the poles in white fabric ($720) for a clean, finished look at a wedding.
